Bilateral relationships with other central banks and foreign supervisory authorities

The current cooperation between the National Bank of Moldova and central banks from other countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Ukraine etc.) is based on collaborative relationships with regard to the exchange of information, technical assistance, cooperation agreements (particularly in the field of banking supervision).

At the international level, the National Bank of Moldova has signed several cooperation agreements with central banks / banking supervisory authorities from other countries, and namely:

  • Memorandum of Understanding between the National Bank of Moldova and the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority from Germany (Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht, BaFin) Concerning their Cooperation in the Field of Supervision of Banks (of November 3, 2014);
  • Agreement between the National Bank of Moldova and the National Bank of Georgia on bilateral cooperation (of June 1, 2012);
  • Memorandum of collaboration in the field of banking supervision between the National Bank of Moldova and the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on regulation and supervision of financial market and financial organizations (of October 23, 2006);
  • Agreement between the National Bank of Moldova and the National Bank of  Kazakhstan on cooperation with regard to the exchange of information and research in the financial-banking system (of September 17, 2003);
  • Cooperation Agreement between the National Bank of Moldova and the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (of December 26, 2001);
  • Agreement between the National Bank of Moldova and the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation in the field of supervision of credit institutions’ activity (of December 26, 2001);
  • Agreement on cooperation in the field of the banking supervision between the National Bank of Moldova and the National Bank of Romania (of July 27, 2001);
  • Agreement between the National Bank of Moldova and the Central Bank of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of supervision of credit institutions’ activity (of September 14, 1999).
